SBSM exhibits Robotics and Coding – Taking Technology from the classroom to the next level.

The world of education is advancing. Coding, LEGO and robotics are becoming a new era for learning. Taking into consideration the new dimension in Technology and education, SBSM in collaboration with ‘Let’s do it 2gether for education’, hosted their first STEAM exhibition on the 6th April 2019. The event was aimed at promoting public awareness and an understanding of the importance of Science and Technology in education.  STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics to solve real-world problems through hands-on learning activities and creative designs.

The exhibition was well attended by the Lenasia community. Many learners and educators from other schools participated in the fun activities and competitions which consisted of engaging with Lego Robotics, drawing designs, building Lego balloon cars that were raced against each other.

SBSM honoured the presence of Professor Jean Greyling from the Nelson Mandela University, the Director of Eskom Mrs Mumtaz Mia and Mr Nicholas Bixa, Mr Ramotse Tsotetsi, the Chief Education Specialists and Mr Derek Moodley from the Gauteng Department of Education and Sci-bono. The event was well received and duly appreciated by all that attended because it focused on the concepts in Technology that the SA Education System is envisaging for the future.
