Shree Bharat Sharda Mandir Independent school hosted the Newspaper Quiz on the 14th and 15th of March. On Tuesday, 14th March, twenty four primary schools participated and on Wednesday, 15th March, ten high schools participated. Registration began at 10:30am and was followed by the prayer and national anthem, which was sung by the Grade 7 prefects.

Amongst the anxious educators and enthusiastic learners present, were executives of the English Teacher’s Society. Mr. Morgan, chairperson of the English Teacher’s Society, addressed the learners before the quiz began. He encouraged the learners and also shared some words of inspiration, highlighting the importance of reading.

The quiz began at 11am and finished just before 2pm, after two rounds of quick-fire questions by the panel of quizmasters. SBSM’s English Department educators  served on the panel of quizmasters for the primary school competition and Pentarosa Primary School served on the panel for the high school competition.

The host school, SBSM, clinched first position, beating twenty three other schools that participated, while Al Aqsa extension 5 came second, followed by Lotus.

Lotus claimed first position in the high school competition, while the hosts, SBSM, came second, followed by Redwood. The programme ended with the presentation of certificates and trophies by the English Teacher’s Society.
